Despite the best safety measures, a short circuit can always occur in a vehicle. The solution is fuses, which are designed to protect electrical systems and equipment from excessive thermal and mechanical stress due to overload and short circuit. These protective devices must be able to interrupt the circuit at the installed location in the event of a short circuit. For this reason, the installation site of the fuse is chosen so that as much of the electrical system as possible is protected. In most cases, the fuse is installed close to the power source. In vehicles, melting fuses, known as blade fuses, are used. If the current is too high, the melting wire in the fuse is destroyed, thus interrupting the circuit. This interruption of the circuit can protect both the electrical device and the wiring.
