Notes on the disposal of electrical equipment

1. Notes on the disposal of electrical and electronic equipment and the meaning of the symbol in Appendix 3 of the ElektroG
Owners of old devices must collect them separately from unsorted municipal waste. Waste electrical and electronic equipment must therefore not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste and, in particular, does not belong in the household waste. Rather, these old devices should be collected separately and disposed of via the local collection and return systems. The latter does not apply if the old devices are separated from other old devices in accordance with Section 14 (5) sentences 2 and 3 ElektroG as part of the opting by the public waste disposal authorities for the purpose of preparing them for reuse in order to prepare them for reuse.

Using the symbol according to Appendix 3 of the ElektroG, owners can identify old devices that must be recorded separately from unsorted municipal waste. The symbol for the separate collection of electrical and electronic equipment represents a crossed-out garbage can on wheels and is designed as follows:

2. Batteries and rechargeable batteries as well as lamps:
Owners of old devices have to separate old batteries and accumulators that are not enclosed by the old device, as well as lamps that can be removed from the old device non-destructively, before handing them over to a collection point from the old device. This does not apply if old devices are prepared for reuse with the participation of a public waste disposal company.

3. Notes on the options for returning old devices:
Owners of old devices can dispose of them within the scope of the return or collection of old devices set up and available by public waste disposal authorities, so that proper disposal of old devices is ensured. If necessary, electrical and electronic equipment can also be handed in there for the purpose of reusing the equipment. You can obtain more information on this from the respective collection or return point.

4. Note on data protection
There may be sensitive personal data on old devices to be disposed of, which must not get into the hands of third parties. We expressly point out that end users of old devices are responsible for deleting personal data on the old devices to be disposed of.

Information obligations in accordance with Section 18 (2) of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act

The quantitative targets according to § 10 Paragraph (3) and § 22 Paragraph (1) of the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) must be published by manufacturers (Article 2 of the Act to Implement the Waste Framework Directive - amendment of the ElektroG in § 18).
