Powerful Lightweight
The VOLT Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery (LiFePO4) comes with an already installed Battery Management System (BMS). Thanks to its high cycle stability, it has a significantly longer lifespan compared to AGM, lead-gel, and lead-acid (wet) batteries, and can be exchanged one-to-one with such batteries. The lithium battery has an extremely low self-discharge, is inherently safe, and maintenance-free. Also notable is the significant weight saving compared to conventional lead batteries.
Expert Tip: This LiFePO4 battery is ideally suited for powering an electric outboard boat motor. Which battery is best suited for the intended purpose can be roughly calculated. For this, the battery capacity in watt-hours (Wh) is divided by the motor's power in watts (W), yielding a time value in hours (h). However, this only refers to the battery's power output, not the motor's power consumption. The motor's loss of power must also be deducted. With a motor efficiency of 85%, the calculated value is multiplied by the factor 0.85. This provides a rough estimate of how many hours the lithium battery can run the motor. The calculation below is an example of operating this battery in conjunction with the outboard motor Minn Kota Endura Max 40 with a maximum power of 504 W.
Example: 1,280 Wh / 504 W = 2.5 h x 0.85 = 2.1 h ≙ approximately 2 hours 6 minutes at full load
