Despite the best safety measures, a short circuit can always occur in a motor vehicle. The solution is fuses that are designed to protect electrical systems and equipment from excessive thermal and mechanical stress in case of overload and short circuit. These protective devices must be capable of interrupting the circuit at the installed location in the event of a short circuit. For this reason, the installation location of the fuse is chosen so that the entire electrical system is protected as much as possible. In most cases, the fuse is installed close to the power source. In vehicles, melting fuses, known as blade fuses, are used. If the current is too high, the fusible wire in the melting fuse is destroyed, thus interrupting the circuit. This interruption of the circuit can protect both the electrical device and the wiring.
